BW 908 is a container blend from Blended Waxes Inc., made with an equal portion of natural waxes and fully refined paraffin. It is formulated for single-pour, scented container candles: the smooth, off-white look makers like in soy, with the higher fragrance load of a para-soy blend.

What the manufacturer's sell sheet says

  • Single pour
  • Pre-blended, no additives required
  • Good jar adhesion, no jar preheating required
  • High fragrance load: 6–12%
  • Will not creep or slump at temperatures up to 100°F (38°C)
  • Accepts dyes and colorants well
  • Bloom resistant

How to use BW 908

  • Melt slowly in a double boiler or wax melter.
  • Add fragrance at 6–12% and stir gently for about two minutes.
  • Pour at 160–170°F (71–77°C). Jars don't need preheating.
  • Let candles set undisturbed at room temperature, away from drafts.
  • Cure for 1–2 weeks before burn testing for the best scent throw.

Wick selection

Para-soy blends usually burn a little hotter than 100% soy, so wicks often size down slightly compared with a straight soy recipe. Starting points for testing:

  • 2.5" diameter vessel: start with a small-to-medium wick.
  • 3" diameter vessel: start with a medium wick.
  • 3.5"+ diameter vessel: consider a larger wick or a double-wick layout.

These are starting points only. Burn test every combination of wax, fragrance, dye and vessel: dyes and heavy fragrance loads both change how a wick performs.

BW 908 or a 100% soy wax?

Choose BW 908 when scent throw and a clean single-pour top matter most, or when candles have to handle warm-weather shipping. Choose BW 929 (100% soy) when your label needs an all-soy claim. Many makers keep both and choose by product line.

Which Wax Should I Choose?

Choosing the right wax is the most critical step in candle making. Whether you are crafting container candles or molded candles, each requires a specific wax type to achieve the best scent throw and smooth finish.
