Golden Brands 444 is a soy container wax from AAK, made from soybean oil with soy-based additives that help reduce frosting. It is supplied in flakes and has a higher melt point than Golden Brands 464, so finished candles hold up better in warm weather. It also takes a higher fragrance load than 464.
Why makers use 444
- Higher melt point than 464, a good choice for summer sales and shipping
- Fragrance load of 9–11%, higher than most soy container waxes
- Smooth, creamy tops and good glass adhesion
- Flakes are easy to weigh and melt, with no cutting
How to use Golden Brands 444
- Heat the wax to about 185°F (85°C) and add fragrance at 9–11%, stirring gently for about two minutes.
- Let it cool and pour at 125–145°F (52–63°C) into slightly warmed containers.
- Cool slowly in a draft-free room.
- Cure for 1–2 weeks before burn testing.
Evaluate wick size for each fragrance and dye combination.
Available in 5 lb (2.3 kg), 10 lb (4.5 kg), 20 lb (9.1 kg) and 45 lb (20.4 kg).
